Meet Marsha Dietlein

One of The Dodgy’s favorite filmmakers, Edward Burns (The Brothers McMullen), over the last few years made three New York-based movies pretty much back-to-back-to-back: Nice Guy Johnny, Newlyweds and The Fitzgerald Family Christmas. All three featured nearly the same cast, especially the latter two, including the talented Marsha Dietlein. I don’t want to say she steals every scene she’s in because all the actors were great in them, but she kicks my ass and yours in these films. She was also in Burn’s short film Doggy Bags. Dietlein took time out recently to chat with The Dodgy from her New York City home. How did you get involved in working with Edward Burns? The Dublin Sweatshirt

Once in awhile we like to showcase a little Dodgy fashion along with everything else. And in light of the recent “Bringing Aibreann back from Ireland” essay, I thought it was an appropriate time for this. A Dublin sweatshirt I found in a resale shop. I paid only a few bucks for this thing. It’s warm. I also decided to showcase it in yet another blast of winter in Chicago. Cheers.

Or “The Asshole Dublin Club” “You know, my sister talks about you a lot. I think she cares about you. You seem to mean something to her.” “Then why is she in Ireland?” And so it began. Another reason to travel back to Ireland. Bring the girl back. Shauna didn’t have to answer my question about her sister. We knew why she was there. It had to do with a graduate research program at Trinity College for a semester, maybe two. Maybe three. I was hoping to get her back after one.
