A Super Visit to Northwest Indiana

Have you arrived in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl yet?  Gotten drunk in Broad Ripple? Shaked your arse at the Wild Beaver? You ain’t going to St. Elmo…from what I hear the NFL has taken over reservations for that shit the next four days. Can’t get Jimmy Fallon tix? Too fat to try that zipline thingy? Drive your arse a few hours north and visit Northwest Indiana. Spend an hour, half a day, stay overnight. Here’s a few places worth checking out. Stop by in Merrillville and check out the coolest liquor store sign you’ll see this side of the Mississippi. Stop in and buy a six-pack for the road back to Indy. A little “coming soon” update… The “Super Bowl visitors visit NWI” is almost ready (Christ…Wednesday later in the night). Also…a Q & A with Liffey. Something called “The Touch.” I got the idea from a recent viewing of “50/50.” It’s gonna be a little romanticky…so be prepared. A new theme design…something a little temporary until I move up a bit to something more originally dodgy. Until then…from the Tellamore Dew “Irish True” whiskey…glasses up to love and  havoc.

Odd Oscars thoughts

Liffey’s odd thoughts on the Oscar nominations… Glenn Close (“Albert Nobbs”) and Meryl Streep (“The Iron Lady”) are both nominated for playing men. Another actress, Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) one could argue looks like a man. Is this really the same cutie who was in “Social Network” ? Lead actor: I don’t know who the hell Demian Bichir is. Yea, it’s kinda surprising Gary Oldman has never been nominated. I think he should have been for “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.” And maybe a supporting nom for his tiny part as Drexyl in “True Romance.” Supporting Actor: Nick Nolte for “Warrior.” Haven’t seen it. He could have been nominated in the same category for “The Thin Red Line.” Supporting Actress: Another nod…
