Top Five Michelle Monaghan films

Posted on January 22, 2012

I’m not even sure when I first took notice of Michelle Monaghan. It might have been some bullshit tv show or movie early in her career. I know a mark was made in Gone Baby Gone before I was bulldozed by her in Trucker. Those are among my top five films from this beautiful and talented actress of Irish and German descent. In no particular order Trucker 2008 – I’ve seen a lot of 18-wheelers on the road, but I’ve never seen any of them driven by a gal like this. Michelle’s character in this gritty flick drives, drinks and sexes. And what more is there, really? I haven’t seen an actress look that good in a wife-beater since Sarah Michelle Gellar in “Buffy.”…

Brit Marling: Breakout star of 2011

Posted on January 1, 2012

The new Indie “It Girl” I’ve seen her been called. Kinda like Parker Posey was in the ’90s? Brit Marling earned the moniker based on a couple award-winning and critically acclaimed indie films from the past year, Another Earth and Sound of My Voice. I’ve seen Another Earth, which is very good. Brit co-stars with the guy who played Ethan, one of the “Others” in Lost. Two planet Earths and the best thing about that – it means two Brit Marlings. Brit proves my part that you can be a really cute gal and look amazing in janitorial clothes. Her other film, Sound of My Voice, I have not seen yet. It probably played in Chicago, ever so briefly, before I caught on to…

Top Five Amanda Peet films

Posted on December 25, 2011

It’s Christmas, and I’ve always wanted Amanda Peet for Christmas, so here goes. I fell in love with Amanda Peet during her run on the late ’90s/early ’00s series “Jack & Jill.” She was pretty and funny. The kind of gal who can make strange faces and still look hot. In my wank opinion, these are her top five films. In no particular feckin’ order. Please Give 2010 – This was an indie fav that was on many top ten lists for the year in cinema. Amanda is Mary, some sort of spa chick with an ass tongue. The only problem I have with this film is she bangs Oliver feckin’ Platt for God’s sake. It’s a swell flick ’cause it also stars the…
