That’s Amore! Drinking in Crown Point

Posted on December 19, 2011

Discovered a new lounge in NWI – and it’s not bad. The 109 Lounge in downtown Crown Point is the place to go if you yearn for something Chicagoey. It sits above Amoré Ristorante, an Italian bistro I’ve yet been too. I was quite pissed when I got to 109 but from what I recall it’s a great place to bring a gal/guy or a bunch of blokes. It’s got great lighting – who thinks about lighting? I do. You’ve got your candles and such…not too dark, not too bright. ‘Once,’ falling softly into a musical

At New York Theatre Workshop, ‘Once,’ falling softly into a musical. This is one of several amazing reviews of the new play/musical “Once” based on the loving film. But when I think musical I think “Wicked” or “Lez Mis” or “Urine Town”) takes place in a Dublin pub. Now that’s what I call ‘well done!” Marketa Irglova was just in Chicago a few weeks ago…and I missed her. One of my favorite songs from the original film is her stunning “If You Want Me.” A New York trip might be on the…

Christmas Music 2

Posted on December 11, 2011

The non-stop Christmas music continues on 93.9 “The Holiday Lite” and Z107. (EDIT 12/12 – WXRT has begun it’s “Holiday Nights” where now through Christmas they play an eclectic mix of Christmas tunes from 8-midnight). As expected, and already written, The Lite continues to play what seems like the same 15-20 songs over and over. Guess what Lite? There are a lot more versions of Josh Groban’s “O Holy Night.” Does anyone remember Groban when he was on Ally McBeal? I think Ally’s character went to his prom as his date. Anyway…Z107 continues to play a strong variety, although they do tend to repeat some of the same songs a lot. But I have to give them credit – whatever stream they’re getting the…
