I Kissed Gabby In This Park

Posted on June 24, 2012

I kissed Gabby in this park…and she broke my heart.

This isn’t my handiwork. I knew a Gabby in high school, but we never kissed, nor did we talk to each other. I saw this heartbreaking piece of graffiti the other night. I feel your pain, mystery author. I too, kissed a girl in Ann Sather Garden. Her name was Callie and it was just before she returned to the UK. She called me an asshole after the kiss but hoped to see me again. I want to find this author and hear his (or her) story. I want to know more about Gabby.

Snaps

Posted on April 6, 2012

Cleaning out the snaps from the mobile (Blackberry) in anticipation of the iPhone 4 with the loveable Siri. That and a few others on my computer I’ve recently collected. And here they are. This one I think I got from The Sartorialist. I call her the “Irish Princess.” What a beaut. That hair color. And the classic style. I’m in love. Another beautiful (and smart) gal: Lisa Ling signing for me a copy of her great book Somewhere Inside that she co-wrote with her equally becoming sister Laura. I probably could have snagged a pic with her. I flaked out. Dammit. The marquee from Chicago’s great Double Door. About 10 years or so ago that marquee read “The Rolling Stones” when those boys did…

Done it in Dublin

A few more random snaps from Dublin…

"Gavin" - Backpacker Pub Crawl

Carlsburg - a short respite from Guinness at Oliver St. John Grogarty's.

The Cliffs - an out of Dublin trip

Ha'Penny Bridge (over the River - yep - Liffey!) in the rain at night

Backpacker Pub Crawl - Gavin, the leader, two gals and some doofs in the back.

A pint of the black stuff at one of my favorites, The Long Stone Pub

The crawl: On a whim I decided to join the Backpacker Pub Crawl. I recommend it over whatever they tell you in the travel brochure. You meet some interesting folks, many who are hostel-dwellers, and it’s a good time at some interesting pubs. You meet at Trinity College and someone like Gavin (I forget his name, but he looks like a Gavin) will lead the way. Good times, good drink.
