Caught the Crawpuppies in action again at the Greek Fest in Merrillville Friday night. I wasn’t there for the entire set but from what I experienced it was much more enjoyable than the Jacyee appearance a week ago. Covers I heard included songs by the Eagles, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Billy Idol and U2. But by far and away my favorite song of the night was their own, original “The Way.” Other than a strange man in track pants and a fanny pack dancing near the stage it was a fine set. Beer selection: $3 gets you a 16-ounce Miller Lite. Or a Greek Import beer. They also had wine. Greek food abundant. I wasn’t rejected by any Greek gals…but then I didn’t…
Fourth of July parades in Northwest Indiana. Where else can you find clowns, school bands, politicians (insert clown joke), tractors, cheerleaders, war veterans, school bands, horses, and Bob’s Heating and Air? At the parade in Crown Point you can also find beer. Now I was unable to hit all the region parades but in Crown Point you can watch the Shriners and their little cars (and big men) while downing a beer or two or three in the outside dining area at Tequila Si Cantina. Not quite the Go-Cup of New Orleans but close enough. $2 got you a cup of Lite. Parade beer. Two new parade rules according to me: No politicians unless they are willing to dress up as a clown or…
