It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Grinch, Elf, Rudolph, A Christmas Story…how about a little something different yet keeping in the Christmas season? Here are three alternative christmas films to consider this year. A Midnight Clear The 1992 Keith Gordon film based on the novel and the story about German soldiers who want to surrender to an American intelligence unit in the snowy Ardennes Forest during WWII in December of ’44. Beautiful, poetic, sad film starring Ethan Hawke and Gary Sinise…with Peter Berg and Kevin Dillon. I have a crush on Isla Fisher…renewed having just saw her guest star on “Bored to Death.” This pic of her is from the film “Definitely, Maybe” and I love her outfit, especially The Smiths shirt. Isla was named after the Scottish island of Islay.
So Chicago’s WLIT 93.9 FM “The Lite” is now, and has been since Nov. 10, the “Holiday Lite.” Which means, for those of you who live in Chicagoland, they play about the same 15 Christmas songs over, and over, and over… I don’t really have a problem with Christmas music starting a little early (although that’s too early). My issue is doing it Lite right.
