If you were to ask me to name my top five movies of the last couple years, I’d tell you two of them are the Edward Burns films Newlyweds and The Fitzgerald Family Christmas. These critically acclaimed gems were filmed in New York with pretty much the same cast, including the amazing Marsha Dietlein. I don’t  want to say she steals every scene she’s in because all the actors were great in them, but she kicks my ass and yours in these films. She was also in Burns’ Nice Guy Johnny and other stuff. The first annual Dodgy Awards honors three women of 2013 who made their mark with beauty, passion, talent, and in at least two cases, controversy. Other year-end awards in various areas are also featured. And so, here are the 2013 Dodgys.  The Women of the Year Nadia of “Pussy Riot” Nadezhda “Nadia” Tolokonnikova of the all-female Russian punk activist group Pussy Riot was recently released from prison after serving nearly two years for “hooliganism.” Fellow Riot member Maria “Masha” Aloykhina was released on the same day. The entire lineup of the Pussy girls could have all been Women of the Year. Six Movies That Should Be Made But Probably Won’t

There are so many movies that should have never been made. Then there are movies that should be made, but probably won’t. Here are six of them. A sequel to The Brothers McMullen. The Brothers McMullen director/writer/star Edward Burns planned to do a follow-up to that 1995 gem, one of my personal favorites, and it seemed to be getting on track until October when Burns tweeted that he “threw out” the sequel idea because he didn’t like any ideas of where the characters would be after 20 years. Instead, he plans to do a prequel, which is fine, but it means we won’t see that Irish-American chemistry between the McMullen Brothers – Burns, Mike McGlone, and that other guy – from the original movie.…
